Manage or delete your Fitbit data
If you have connected Fitbit to FitBond through the Google Health API, this page explains what we read, how to stop us reading it, and how to have it deleted.
What FitBond reads
If you have connected Fitbit, Google asks you to let FitBond see your Google Health activity and fitness data. This is read-only access (googlehealth.activity_and_fitness.readonly): we cannot add to, change or delete anything in your Google Health or Fitbit account.
We read daily totals of steps, distance, active energy and minutes of moderate and vigorous activity recorded by your tracker devices, and an identifier for your Google account so we can link the connection to your FitBond account. We use them only to verify and show your own progress on your Bonds, to settle those Bonds, and to suggest goals. Other members of a Bond you join can see your progress on that Bond, because shared progress is part of how Bonds work.
Disconnect Fitbit in the FitBond app
- Open the FitBond app and go to Linked Accounts in settings.
- Switch Fitbit to Off.
We then stop reading your data and revoke FitBond's access with Google. You can reconnect at any time.
Remove FitBond's access from your Google Account
- Open your Google Account and choose Security.
- Under “Your connections to third-party apps & services”, select FitBond.
- Choose to delete all connections you have with FitBond.
FitBond can no longer read your Fitbit data once access is removed. Removing access this way has the same effect on your Bonds as disconnecting in the app.
What happens to your open Bonds
If a Bond that Fitbit verifies is still open when you disconnect, it is at risk until you reconnect, because we cannot verify your progress without the connection. Reconnect before that Bond's data window closes and your progress still counts. Disconnecting on its own does not forfeit anything.
Delete your account
You can delete your account in the app, or by contacting support@fitbond.co.uk. When you delete your account we revoke FitBond's access with Google and delete your Google user data within up to 30 days, subject to legal holds. Progress already recorded on a Bond stays with the Bond record, and some financial records are kept for as long as the law requires; the privacy policy sets out the details. If you have active paid Bonds, their payments must be resolved before the account can be deleted.
Ask for your data to be deleted sooner
To have your Fitbit data deleted without waiting for account deletion, email privacy@fitbond.co.uk from the address on your FitBond account.
