How many steps are in a mile?

A mile is 1,609 metres. Divide that by your step length to get your steps per mile: with a 70 cm step it is about 2,300 steps; with an 80 cm step it is about 2,000. Taller people and people walking faster usually take longer steps, so they need fewer steps per mile.

How long does 10,000 steps take?

The NHS describes a brisk walk as about 3 miles an hour. At that pace, 4 to 5 miles takes roughly 80 to 100 minutes of walking, which most people spread across the day rather than doing in one go.
